Alexander McKenzie


Alexander graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws with Honours in Law. He was admitted to practice in August 2014, and after a short stint working as a cellar hand at a winery in Switzerland, returned to Tasmania to work as a graduate lawyer at Butler McIntyre & Butler. Alexander joined McLean McKenzie & Topfer in January 2016 and works in the litigation team.

Alexander practices in the areas of:

  • General insurance claims
  • Supreme Court and Magistrates Court criminal law
  • General court work
  • Agency matters

Alex is currently the President of the North West Young Lawyers Committee of the Law Society of Tasmania. In early 2018, Alex was awarded the prize for being Tasmania's Young Lawyer of the Year for 2017.

He is President of the Tasmanian Council of Social Services (TasCOSS), Deputy Chair of Ten Days on Island, and a member of the Tasmanian Community Fund board.

He enjoys rowing surf boats for the Burnie Surf Club and, cycling along the sunny North West Coast, sailing, and spending time at Sisters Beach with his fiancée, their dog Pudding and friends and family.
