Alexander McKenzie


Alexander graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws with Honours in Law. He was admitted to practice in August 2014, and after a short stint working as a cellar hand at a winery in Switzerland, returned to Tasmania to work as a graduate lawyer at Butler McIntyre & Butler. Alexander joined McLean McKenzie & Topfer in 2016 and works in the litigation team.

Alexander practices in the areas of:

  • Medical negligence
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • General insurance claims
  • Criminal law
  • General court work
  • Agency matters

One day per week Alexander works for the Hon Ruth Forrest MLC as her policy advisor and speech writer. He has also been asked to undertake a research role with the University of Tasmania into teamwork and collaboration in modern legal practice under the supervision of Dr Brendan Gogarty and Dr Olivia Rundle, as well as co-ordinating Constitutional Law Moots at the University.

He is a board member of Wyndarra Health Centre in Smithton and also volunteers for Reprieve Australia, the Future Business Council of Australia, the Movember Foundation and the Tristan Jepson Memorial Foundation.

He enjoys playing rugby for the mighty Burnie Emus at the weekend, brewing beer, cycling along the sunny North West Coast, sailing, and spending time at Sisters Beach with his friends and family.
